50 years of Finlandia

Finlandia Ski Marathon, Finlandia-hiihto, is celebrating its 50th anniversary. Finlandia was skied for the first time in 1974 from Hämeenlinna to Lahti. The record number of participants was in 1984, when there were close to 13,000 skiers. Finlandia-hiihto was the world’s largest mass skiing event in the 1980s and it is still an internationally significant skiing competition. For the participants, Finlandia offers the opportunity for competition or, for those who wish to proceed more calmly, a pleasant fitness or touring skiing event.
