The Sense of Skiing exhibition highlights the Finnish history of skiing in all of its forms, from a recreational pastime to a professional sport. Sunday skiers and those traumatised by skiing in Physical Education classes in school are not forgotten either.

The exhibition takes visitors thousands of years into the past and back to modern skiing trends. Today’s favourites, downhill skiing and snowboarding, are also included, as well as the colourful history of biathlon.

The vitrine for ski jumping and Nordic combined has been revived, providing information and experiences about these sports.

Finns have used their skiing skills in everyday life and war, not to mention ski games. The annual Lahti Ski Games as well as the Nordic World Ski Championships, held previously in Lahti seven times, receive the attention they deserve.
