In 1922, the Finns Anton Collin and Tapani Niku took a double victory in the 50-kilometre ski race at Holmenkollen, Norway. They were the first non-Norwegians to win the race. Skiing fans were amazed, and this gave Finland the impulse to start arranging international skiing competitions. Lahti was chosen as the venue because of its impressive terrain. This was the beginning of the eventful history of the Lahti Ski Games.

The exhibition portrayed the 25-year sport career of ‘the Holmenkollen conqueror’ Anton Collin through his prize collection. Collin was one of the few Finnish athletes who have competed in both summer and winter Olympics – and he did it in the same year, 1924.
